Rafe Fletcher is a writer, adviser, speaker and entrepreneur based in Singapore. He is a popular commentator on geopolitics and wider cultural phenomena. Rafe is also the founder of Coulthwaite Group, a marketing and communications agency with offices in London and Singapore.
Born and bred in London, Rafe read Theology at the University of Cambridge before starting his career in sports journalism with The London Evening Standard. He also worked for the think tanks The Centre for Social Cohesion (which later became the Henry Jackson Society) and Policy Exchange, described as “the largest, but also the most influential think tank on the right.”
Rafe has been based in Asia since 2019, living first in Hong Kong before moving to Singapore. There, he founded Coulthwaite Group, an ideas-driven network specialising in business intelligence, curated events and branding. Coulthwaite Group is part of a wider network that spans the USA and Latin America, providing clients with access to world-class expertise and insights.
An adviser to former heads of state and cabinet ministers in the UK and abroad, Rafe also writes a regular column for Conservative Home. The platform, founded in 2005, encompasses a broad conservative spectrum and represents the views of grassroots political campaigners. Rafe’s columns focus particularly on engaging a disillusioned younger population and drawing lessons from abroad. He has also written on DEI, the war in Ukraine and the fertility crisis.
Rafe also writes The Otium Den substack, which draws on the Latin concept of leisure as engaged productivity – Otium. In that weekly newsletter, Rafe argues for a slower and more circumspect look at issues rather the vibe-based politics of the personal that often dominates narratives.
